Car Insurance Buick (Car Insurance). Where can I find a cheap car?Where can I find a cheap car? I'm 18 years old and I'm getting ready to graduate high school so I need a car that I can go to school and work with. My mom won't co-sign anything and I can really only afford a $500 max down payment. I'm looking for a place that will do in-house financing because I don't have any credit. Preferably I'm looking for anything that's no more expensive then $5000. I need a car ASAP! I live in San Antonio, Texas. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! thats a really tough situation. if you dont have a co-signer most places wont even look at you and you need to have a job for at least a year. $500 is nothing to any dealership. at carmax if you have bad (or no) credit they may accept you but you need at least 3000 down. just keep saving. and then look on craigslist. Buick . How to Get Rid of Car OdorsMysterious and unpleasant odors are never welcome, and they somehow become even more offensive in tight quarters. One place you don't want an odor is in your car. With the windows rolled up, a car makes a breeding ground for unpleasant odors, intensified by warm weather. Worse yet, the odors seem almost impossible to subdue. Fortunately, if you know a few simple tips, you can banish these odors and have a great smelling car. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Baking soda Vacuum Steam cleaner Odor eliminating spray Garbage bagsCleaning out Your Car Step by Step : 1 Roll down your windows. While you are cleaning out your car, leave the windows open. Airing the car out will make cleaning it much easier on your nose. 2 Take your garbage bag and clean out your car. Discard any and all paper, leftover food, clothing and any other items that do not belong in your car. These things can harbor bad odors from sweat and decaying food. Clean out the trunk, glove box and console, ashtray, and don't forget the side pockets of your doors. 3 Vacuum out the car. This includes seats, dash and air vents, floors, crevices and under the seats. Make sure get into the glove box, ashtray and console as well, you never know what little crumbs or bits might be causing the odors. 4 Steam clean the upholstery. If you have a steam cleaner with an arm, this should be relatively easy. If you don't, you can stop by your local self service carwash. Many have stations you can rent time from to get your steam cleaning out of the way. Make sure you get the fronts, backs and sides of all the seats, and wash your mats and carpets as well. Once this is done, let the fabrics dry thoroughly. For non-cloth interiors, use appropriate cleaning solutions. Steam cleaning is not an option for non-cloth interiors. 5 Wipe down all the hard surfaces of your car. Dash board, steering wheel, pedals, air vents and consoles are frequent points of contact, and are often much more dirty than you realize. Additional Odor Control Step by Step : 1 Spray all the cloth or fabric surfaces in your car with an odor eliminating spray. Spray lightly and cover the areas without saturating the fabric. 2 Leave your windows cracked or down as much as possible. Fresh air will do wonders for odors. Be careful of incliment weather and safety precautions should you leave your windows down and your vehicle unattended. 3 Pour baking soda into the ashtray or change container in your car. Baking soda absorbs unplesant odors left in the car. Change the baking soda every month or so. 4 If the odors are persistent, sprinkle baking soda onto the upholstery, and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Vacuum it up. Repeat if necessary.
Buick . How to Get Rid of a Bad Odor in a CarThere's a smell in your car. You may not be sure exactly what it is. Perhaps you're unsure where it's coming from. You simply know that it's not good. While air fresheners are nice, they basically work as a cover-up. They simply hide the smell. You probably want it eliminated completely. That means you'll need to get rid of the aroma. Unfortunately, depending on the nature and the severity of the source, this may take a little bit of odor-removal experimentation. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Step by Step : 1 Clean up the source. Locate the source of the smell by sniffing around the car. As repulsive as this may sound, it's really the only way to determine where the smell is coming from. Once you've located the source, clean it up. If it's an item that has spilled or rotted under a seat, remove it from the car. If it's something that has soaked into the upholstery, give it a good scrubbing with car upholstery cleaner. In the case of tobacco odors, you may need to steam clean the car's interior to completely remove the smell. 2 Allow the area to dry thoroughly. Open all the windows and doors. You'll need to leave it supervised in this manner for a while. The car needs to air out before you proceed. Don't close the car up until the area is dry. If you do, you'll still smell traces of the original odor, and your car will smell musty. 3 Try sprinkling coffee grounds on the stain. As they dry, they will absorb the smell of the original source. Better still, your car will smell life coffee for a while. 4 Get an open bag of charcoal. Leave it in the car for a day or two. It will absorb the odors. 5 Spritz vinegar on the upholstery to remove really tough smells. Although it makes your car smell a bit like pickles, it will also neutralize the original unpleasant odor. Tips & Warnings Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. If your car has an odor that is really bad, you may want to consider getting rid of it. Decide whether or not you can live with the smell. Be cautious of using spray-on fabric fresheners. These mask odors, but they don't eliminate them. *ku v a diesel vehicle, be sure to choose one that allows you to do most of the maintenance yourself, without requiring a great deal of time, money, or skill. Check the owner's manual and talk to diesel mechanics to be sure that the oil is easy to change, because you're going to have to change it quite often. Also make sure that the oil, air, and fuel filters are easy to reach and change, and that you can bleed and prime the fuel system easily. Before you buy the vehicle, make the dealer show you where all these items are located and what you must do to maintain them. What makes it yo The basic difference between a diesel engine and a gasoline engine is that in a diesel engine, the fuel is not ignited by an outside power source like a spark plug, nor is it mixed with air in a carburetor. Instead, the fuel is sprayed into the combustion chamber through a fuel injector nozzle, just when the air in the chamber has been placed under such great pressure that it's hot enough to ignite the fuel spontaneously. (You can find more information about diesel fuel later in this chapter.) Most conventional engines have compression ratios of around 8:1, which means that the volume of each cylinder is eight times larger with the piston at the bottom of the cylinder than with the piston at the top of the cylinder. Diesel engines may employ compression ratios of above 20:1. Because of this fact, and the fact that the compressed air can reach very high temperatures, diesel engines must be built for greater strength and endurance. (See Figure 7-1.) 343

They have also designed a variety of heaters to help get things going in extremely cold weather. (See "Getting started on a frosty morning" later in this chapter.) Fuel injection pump Here's a step-by-step view of what happens when you start up a diesel-powered vehicle. The details may vary from one car to another, but the action remains pretty much the same. (It might be fun to compare this description with the short overview of how conventional engines work in Chapter 4.) 1. When you first turn the key in the ignition, you're asked to wait until the engine builds up enough heat in the cylinders for satisfactory starting. (Most vehicles have a little light that says, "Wait," but a sultry computer voice may do the same job on some vehicles.) When you turn the key, the glow plugs kick in and begin to warm up the air in the cylinders. (See Figure 7-2.) Usually, you don't have to wait long — probably no more than half a minute in moderate weather. Developments in glow plugs have dramatically reduced starting time. 136 Buick . * Part II: What Makes It Go?. Figure 7-2: Glow plugs warm up the air in the cylinders. 2. When everything is warm enough, a "Start" light goes on. When you see this light, you step on the accelerator and turn the ignition key to "Start." 3. Fuel pumps deliver the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. On its way, the fuel passes through a couple of fuel filters (see Figure 7-3) that clean it before it can get to — and clog up — the fuel injector nozzles (see Figure 7-4). Proper maintenance of these filters is especially important in diesels, because fuel contamination can clog up the tiny holes in the injector nozzles. 4. Buick . Why is idling speed increased on my 1996 2.2 vauhall arena van?
An increased idling speed can be caused by a large number of components of the engine. Have you recently given it maintenance? If... * The fuel injection pump is truly the heart of the diesel engine.
